Micah, Walking, Laughing

Lots of laughter is just one of the many benefits of having a child. (We just did our taxes and, believe me, that is another).

Our little musician

I know it has been a long time since I have posted, I have had a lot to say but I just don't sit down to post, instead I like to catch up on other blogs.

Last night with the help of my family I figured out how to pull the videos off my phone and onto my computer. I will probably be sharing all of them eventually, but today I really want to share my favorite one.

Recently Ryan and I have been pulling out our old keyboard to let Micah play with it. He loves to pound on the keys, his favorite feature however is the Demo button that plays a funky version of the music from the "Nutcracker," when he hears this he loves to shake his booty!

The curious case of the bottle of Hepz

Every morning Micah and I make our rounds around the apartment. The stops on the rounds include the changing table, his pet net, the bathroom to watch dad get ready and the kitchen (for breakfast finally), and the washer and Dryer. Micah loves to do laundry. Well he did have a pretty big laundry pile. So this morning we set out to do his laundry, I went around the house collecting random pieces of clothing, my last stop was the diaper bag. As I was shuffling through my adorable green bag, I came across a tiny piece of heaven, a bottle of Hempz lotion. I love this lotion, it smells amazing. I had a flood of questions fill my mind, "how did that get there, how long has it been in there, where did it come from, who is it from, did I steal this on accident?" I definately didn't steal anything but I have no idea where it came from. My only conclusion is that it is a gift, so someone has gone without a thank you from me. So I just wanted to say, whoever you are thank you so much.

The year of homemade gifts

As is the case for a lot of people, money was in short supply this year. I always feel a lot of pressure when it comes to getting people gifts for Christmas. With the help of friends and family, this year I decided to make most of the gifts that we passed out. For my parents and Grandparents I made scrapbooks, I had all of the supplies to do this actual hard copies of pictures. For my Grand parent's scrapbook I had family send me pictures that they wanted in the scrapbook. For mine and Ryan's parents we just gathered pictures from the last twelve months, I had all the pictures printed for just a few dollars. There were other gifts but I don't have pictures and explaining them would just take too much time.

This is a Tutu that I made for my niece Haley, I have to thank my friend Valery for this one, not only did she show me how to make the tutu, but she also provided me with the materials. Thanks Val!

This is a gift that I gave out to my friends, it's just a simple sled ornament but I love tree ornaments and I just had to make these.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

First things first

I can't beleive how horrible I have been at keeping this blog updated. The first thing I need to do is share my pictures of Micah. I can't believe that we are coming up on one year, I feel like I just brought him home. This was taken in the begining of December, although it was chilly, the weather was nice enough to play in the park. He hates his hat.
This is Micah right after a bath, his hair was looking very curly so I had to get a picture of it.

Micah is sporting a pair of Ryan's headphones, Micah loves music so much. You can't see it in the picture but he playing with the keyboard. Every time Micah hears music playing he begins to dance; I love it!The first present Micah opened for Christmas was from his uncle Jordan, bellow Micah is what Micah received. Jordan was trying to get a U of U jersey, Luckily he bought the BYU one.

On Christmas eve we were having a family party over at my parent's house. I couldn't get Micah to go to sleep so my mom and my sister placed him in this blanket and swung him right into a lumber.
This walker was a gift from Micah's Nanna and Pappy (my parents) he was having a lot of fun in his new ride.
Here Micah is playing with the blocks that he came along with his alphabet train, a gift from his Grandma and Grandpa (Ryan's parents).

This is one of very few pictures that exist of me and Micah together. I am always behind the camera taking his pictures. This is us hanging out earlier today.

Funnies from the Daily Universe

On Tuesday, Ryan got to take pictures of the dean of the 0f the school of business at BYU for work. While he was on campus he grabbed a copy of the campus newspaper, The Daily Universe. On the way home from Provo we read the different stories from the police beat. I attached a few of my favorites below. If you are interested in reading more go here.

Oct. 18:
A female resident of Wymount Terrace called in a suspicious phone call in which a man made statements with the intent of hypnotizing the student. The student said she does not remember most of the conversation, but she called him her master. Police say it is virtually impossible hypnotize someone over the phone.

Sept. 16: Residents of Taylor reported three males making noise and pounding on their windows, including one dressed in a Spiderman costume. Police discovered they were residents from May Hall. The students explained they were bored and looking for something to do.

Nov. 1: Police received a call concerning screams and pounding coming from a room in the Maeser Building. Police investigated and discovered the screaming man was a custodial worker watching the game between Texas and Texas Tech., and was upset about his team's loss.

Nov. 9: A female student was reported missing for two days. It turned out the student had been staying with a friend and had failed to inform her roommate.

Nov. 25: A student reported a theft that had happened three weeks earlier. The student said he went into the bathroom, and when he came out his backpack was gone. The backpack contained a packed lunchbox, a fork and a bus pass.

Nov. 30: A student employee's mother called BYU police after her son had not returned home from work when she expected. Police checked on the student's workplace where they found the student was still working.

Nov. 30: Another student's mother called police after she tried calling her son and could not get a hold of him. Police went to the student's dorm, and found the student, who said he was surprised his mother would call BYU police. The student was fine and promised he would call his mother right away.

Nov. 17: Police responded to a call reporting suspicious individuals with red paint. It was subsequently determined that these individuals were paint contractors who were painting a fence on campus.

Dwindle

Dwindle: A card game that rocks!

This card game is very dear to my heart, it was the first game I played with Ryan's family. I would explain it to you all so that you can enjoy it, but I am horrible at that sort of thing. The purpose of this post is to announce that I played a nearly perfect game on Friday night. I got all but one of my bids. The reason I am so happy about this is I never, ever, ever win games. I guess it must be because I am not very competitive, but then again here I am bragging about a "nearly perfect" game. Perhaps my competitiveness has been suppressed. I really enjoy playing all types games so if anyone is up for a game night let me know!

Privacy Please

Katie Hafen convinced me, or was it KSL news? In any case we are going to make our blog private. I would love for everyone to keep visiting so please leave me your emails in a comment or send it to me at tlindsayann@gmailcom. I'll be making the changes in a few days in order to give everyone a fair chance to leave me their info.

Happy Anniversary Ryan!

Ryan and I were married three years ago in the Jordan river Temple. We have had all of the forces of nature try to keep us apart but we are still going strong.

First year of marriage: Jordan El snagged Ryan's wedding band right from his had, it currently lies at the bottom of that darn dam. Now he has two more just in case.

Second year of Marriage: The Potomac River tried to take me whole, I almost slipped off a snowy hill and landed in the cold river. Ryan saved me (not as serious as it sounds).

Third Year of Marriage: Could Micah be considered a force of nature? I would say so! Well that little guy demands a lot of attention, with good reason too. Micah likes to wake up at night just as Ryan and I are getting ready to cuddle on the couch and watch a movie. And he is a pro at interrupting mine and Ryan's daily catch up at the dinner table, but he has filled our home with so much love and definitely brought me and Ryan closer together.

Pinewood Derby

Our ward does a Pinewood Derby for everyone to participate in, it is quite the occasion. I have never been to a pinewood derby so I was pretty excited. Ryan did all the work and Micah, Haley (my neice), and I were there to cheer him on. Ryan's car did so well that he got second place. It was a tight race and a lot of us were certain he would take home the gold. We were proud that he did so well but we can't dwell too much on that race we are already getting ready for next year's race.
